So if you went like; ..oookayy what the hell is is up with this?! Well then I guess I can inform you on some stuff ;)
The black community of females have found a new trend that is spreading like FIRE. You might have heard it (or obviously not..) We are taking off our weaves! We are taking off our wig's! We are stopping the use of all chemical hair products! And have taken the stand to stand firm stand strong (what an intro)
to... GO... NATURAL!
What does this mean you ask?
Definition of going natural: 1. To grow or wear your own hair texture without any (heavy) chemical manipulation.
Okay so some still might wear weave and wig's, but this purposely to now protect their hair underneath while growing they natural hair back and/or long (for more details on that you need to get to a whooole nother different address), but it all comes down to the fact that
black girls want to rock their own "black hair" !
( Definition of going natural: 2. Black girls who want to rock their own Black hair! )
Now let me tell you this, its not as easy as it sounds (perhaps, as it looks like?). Why you ask ?
Wel Imma lay it down for ya :)
For a very very very very long time too many ( not all.. I said too many, okay?) yes too many black girls have been convinced/mislead/forced ( !! ) to "relax" their hair. Now lets not be quick to judge, cause there are many reasons for this!
Alot of black girls are known for their "nappy"hair, or tightly curled or coiled hair if you will. This brings a lot of effort to maintain it. As a kid it was also very hard to sit still when mommy is combing your hair, cause it hurts too DAMN much! This is one of the excuses of why mothers from an early age on decide to relax the hair of their kids.
It is no secret that white features are the whole perception of 'beauty' in this world ( or shall I say mind corrupting media) There for soft and silky is the norm for 'beautiful hair' and what better way to get that then to relax the hair of your child and yourself? It's all a lot of us really wanted. That Bay-watch flowy hair in the wind that you can just toss and turn around (not gonna happen with that nappy hair !.)
And then there is some of us who were not so heavily influenced by our parents to relax their hair but wanted to join 'theweaveteaammmmm' !
(sorry forgot hashtags>> #teamweeeaaave#teamweavettes
#weweavinitallday#teambrazillianhairrr#gotmyinvisiblee
(Definition of invisible: 1. making it less noticable when wearing weave
2. making it seem more real
Definition of brazillian hair: Weave that is supposed to replicate real hair to a higher extent ( not necessarily curly coily or wavy, you can do alot of things with it.). )
Anyways ehum.. there comes an age in a certain young black girls life where she finally gets to wear a weave, some veeery young but most of us just young (i myself was 13 when I lost my 'weaveginity' )
And then you get to make THE CHOICE (little did most of us know of course).... "If you want to wear a weave, you're gonna have to relax your hair!" to make it blend properly (ugh unfortunately this was waayyy before I knew you could just tuck your hair in entirely with almost the same effect *sigh* but still... i wouldnt have thought it was half as pretty :)))) Or have known how to take care of my hair underneath it ). And ofcourse we choose to relax.
Last but not least, 'the long hairlusion' (MY OWN Definiton of long hairlusion:
1.delusion of getting longer hair 2. the misconception of getting longer hair
3. long hair being the only reason of wanting to do it even though you dont know how to properly do it!
4. I dunno if there should be a "4." because I just made this word up ;;))) ).
There you go. Everyone 's story is different. And don't get me wrong relaxing CAN give you hair length gain in the process, It can I experienced it... but for the LONG RUN?? Its just not worth it, just ask

OOOhh Girllll ! This is what a little bit of too much relaxation for the hair does ! (I wonder if she caught the trending natural fever yet... C'mon girl, lets grow our damages back together! )
This is just an extreme examples of what chemicals do to our hair, and not only black girl of course.
But the fact is we black girl do carry a lot of weight on our shoulders when it comes to beauty. Especially for those working in a certain industry (media industry mainly). We are pressured to change our hair texture more then anything! (Unless you rock the bald coupe and don't have any, right?
Lupita Nyong'o ? I see You! ).
Let's also not forget the nearest by communities, schools and companies you work at,
that band 'nappy'hair and hairstyles as braids and Afro's..!
So there you have it. Our hair has been belittled for long time coming and too many of us have just went with it. But pressure and relaxation isn't the only thing that killed our hair vibe. So did the lack of education. A lot of us wonder why our hair doesn't grow (as fast) like others, or why its not soft etc. etc.
We all gave up hope and turned to extension. Yes, its true, our hair is different... but we can still get it as beautiful and healthy like any other girls!
BAM!
Then came the natural craze! All of a sudden the knowledge was spreading ! Doors were opening
( I dunno why! ) ! Blogs were opening! Girls with waist length kinky hair wear showing it all off! Secrts were shared! It was possible! lT WAS POSSIBLEEE !
( Fire works everywhere, yeah, it was just like Christmas, and Oh my God, How I love to just EXAGGERATE ! ) Haha, and there it was. A new trend was born. I mean type in "natural hair" at google and see
only black women with beautiful hair pop up!.
People started to just cut their hair off, calling it "The Big Chop!"( BC ), or stopped relaxing to let their natural texture come alive (Transitioning) ! Websites came specially for the topic, bloggers and vloggers are getting popular like crazy... yeah... This is a good era for the black female community ;)....

Ooh girrlll! Rock that 'eau naturallll' !!
MY STORY
I myself converted to #teamnatural (before I even knew it as a hype seriosuly) and stopped relaxing my hair when one day I took my weave off and saw the horror of my life. My hair which so many people used to praise when I was little had become this.. this..
DRY, BRITTLE, UNEVEN, BREAKING EDGES MONSTERR!!
Yeah it was terrible. So I told my mom I was seriously over it, totally not doing it ever, I wanted my natural hair back. She then threatened that I could no longer wear weave and that my hair would just break off if I left it like that. But I told her I didn't care and would braid my hair until it reached the length I wanted it too
( liar, liar, relaxed hair on fire )
I had no idea what I was gonna do with my hair now. I wasn't going to style or do anything whatsoever with it anymore, so I went online and I discovered a whole new world of HAIRINFO. What a revolutionary day it was for me... I wasn't alone! Ever since I've been doing my thing and its been going pretty well!

Gosh guys, I can go on and on its just all out there now man.
Of course there are girls who do not give a flying *@!^& whatsoever this craze and continue to do whatever it is they want to do with their hair, which is usually damaging it. But let's not forget the girls who have been natural since.. day.. one. #thenaturalveterans, or as I say myself; the natural nazi's!
Gosh some of these girls are just mean :S like damnnn. They feel like some of us black girls are
'jacking "their" style'or are just 'jumping on the bandwagon' (just following a trend and not taking it serious, or whatever, I don't use that term anyways (sue me!) )
Just the fact that yet again some of us within the black community rather fight each other then encourage, gives me a bad taste in my mouth (thats right, ulgh!). They feel like they had no one to support them when they were the only naturals and that we 'trend followers' or 'bandwagon jumpers' dont know what its reaaaally like to be a natural! Or what it takes! The heart! Blood! Sweat and tears!
Look just because you were doing it before it was trending doesn't make us fake or wrong.
For Godsakes there are black celebrities showing off their hair under their weave because they feel more pride to do it now then ever before and their getting heat for it! Its ridiculous. Let's stop this noonsense and go back to the heart of being a community. Supporting each other, loving each other (yada yada, and especially yada yada!), and all the cliché you know that I mean.
Stop getting your hate on and just use that black power fist to pump in the air,
rooting for one another , cause we have reached an era where we as black woman finally want to boast in ALL we got. Not just booty not just boobs not just our color.
But finally.. our hair. TOGETHER :)
And seriously if you're still hating after my great speech, go cry in a corner silently. Cause this bandwagon is movin on, no haters on this train thank you!
